Meetup dot com is a terrible platform but as long as it exists it has a de facto monopoly because it's the only place people can look for events by interest and location and actually find stuff that happens. 99% of the new faces we get coming along to London .NET are people who found us on Meetup.

This is the current schedule of rates for having a meetup group on Meetup.com is a sight to behold. $300/year to run a small meetup group is absolutely eye popping. How many cool meetups have you not been to, not because it's post-COVID, but because nobody can afford to post a listing for them?
