I mourn that the last version I get to see is a version of them theyāre proud of in their progress. Because therapy means breaks and closure. Iām so proud that I do get to meet them at all though, because I (often) start with a person in mourning for that version of themselves they are proud of
I promise there is a wealth of education in any kinda experience that can teach somebody the power of a dual emotion like mournful-pride To me therapy is getting to a place of knowing that -even if itās only for a little while- youāre doing better without my presence & itās partly because of it

Also if helpful, I make a monthly budget of what funds I can afford to give. And I focus my giving on those 2-3 things. I also pay attention to other ways I might contribute including amplifying calls for support, volunteering my time or skills, etc.
