Starting at 7, I woke up every morning, yawned, and then blacked out with an excruciating headache that took my vision for a few seconds. When I was 12, my dentist asked me if I had headaches and I told him about them. My mom asked why Iād never said anything, and I replied I thought it was normal.

The most common arteries affected are the renal arteries, which causes extreme high BP, and the carotids, which can cause arterial tears and brain aneurysms. It affects about 4-5% of the population, and has no cure, but can be managed. FMDSA.org has info and resources for FMD patients.
