Damn high praise, what's the game that's got closest to that level of immersion in your opinion??

I think Baldur’s Gate 3 is the closest. It’s mechanically a completely different game for sure, but the world and the characters and stories are just so enrapturing KoTOR as well as F.E.A.R also comes close but for very different reasons
