đđ˝ This! The idea of telling kids that their only value is in âoptimizing childhoodâ for college admissions- which in turn is optimization for their career- is such a bleak view of what it means to be human.
Whatâs sad about this is that parents who take their kids down this road truly think theyâre helping them, and theyâre doing them a terrible disservice. The serendipity of discovering what you love and what youâre good at continues through childhood, through young adulthood, and through adulthood.

I have a kid in college and elderly parents trying to vote by mail in Texas. I am not kidding when I say that to do this properly, you need a magnifying glass to read the tiny, tiny crucial instructions to make sure your ballot actually gets counted. They make it so hard to vote here.
