NYC Dept of Health tweets from July 9. Both are reasons to wear an n95 in public. Not just in NYC. COVID, pollution, and climate change are everywhere. Covid and air pollution can cause cumulative damage and disability that will make you more vulnerable to heatwaves and other climate effects.

COVID-19 cases have been increasing in NYC.
Consider wearing a mask, especially in crowded indoor settings and particularly if you are over 65 or have a medical condition that puts you at risk for severe COVID-19, or are around others who are: on.nyc.gov/3U2bq5n

@NYSDEC has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for ozone today, July 9, for NYC. See our guidance on air quality: on.nyc.gov/3pFYWYb

During the heat advisory, New Yorkers should make sure to use AC when indoors or go to an air-conditioned place: nyc.gov/beattheheat

COVID yes, but a n95 won't do shit about ozone.

Yet they refuse to use the word “N95” and still say “consider” wearing a mask. I’m so tired of this. Even the most pro-mask public health messaging sucks!

It's really common for people in Metro Manila to wear masks outside, even in the heat. Just makes sense given vehicle emissions

Want to mask but lack resources? Look up your local covid action group. They provide free masks, often including sampler packs to help you find the n95-type mask for your specific needs! Size, shape, hair texture, sensory needs, etc matter. So does community care. Mask in public. Always.
