One of the cool things about older Final Fantasy games is that in battle you can call down an asteroid and a short cutscene will play where it explodes the earth and it does 33% more damage than hitting someone with a sword

*final boss casts spell that causes the sun to explode, annihilating the entire solar system* *all characters have their HP halved*

Much like Naruto Rasengan in ultimate games. A giga ball that does not insta kill.

I loved the occasions where you found yourself back inside a hollowed out tree trunk after a battle that involved the summoning of apocalyptic powers.

Sephiroth was going to summon Meteor and destroy the planet. But Cloud can cast Comet and not even kill an enemy mob. So what the fuck

I remember showing off the Bahamut ZERO summon once where a dragon that's visible from space fires an atmosphere destroying laser down on your opponent, causing a city-leveling explosion, and the reaction I got was "that didn't kill it?"

Summoning a dragon that can blow up the moon but you can't get around or over a locked fence gate

This is why I really like the summons in FF16, they actually do something for a change!
