My earliest memory of tv was watching a show on Nickelodeon and it was kids with a ventriloquist dummy and one of them said “to catch a dummy…we’re doing to have to think LIKE a dummy” and the camera slowly zoomed in on the ventriloquist dummy and my dad (who never yelled) went ALRIGHT THAT’S IT!

My first memory was watching some Power Rangers knock-off and it got interrupted for breaking news of the sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway. I remember just thinking "Wow this show got dark"

The earliest movie memory I can think of was watching Disney’s Fantasia with my family (likely not for the first time, that was one of my and my brother’s earliest favorites) and my dad, who was quite bored, says at one point “Not exactly an Academy Award winner” and my mom scolded him lol.

That's kinda brilliant. I hope your dad came around on it.

My second earliest memory was my parents thought the Simpsons was gross looking but my mom gave up and randomly put on an episode and it was Homer Goes to College and we reached the point where Homer burns his GED and goes “I am so smart! I am so smart! SMRT” and we both laughed hysterically

In elementary school the afternoon lineup was Fresh Price of Bel Air then an hour of Simpsons. There's one episode of Fresh Price where they end up at a strip club. My mom was in the kitchen chopping vegetables for dinner. She heard the music and shouted, "ARE THEY IN A STRIP CLUB?!"

One of my earliest memories was walking in on the scene in Little Shop of Horrors where the plant is eating a woman. I... I think it fucked my brain in some very different ways.

My first memories of tv were around puppets and ventriloquist dummies as well…

Mine is a completely fucked up animation where a guy is eating a softboiled egg by cracking it with a spoon and then through the cartoon his house ends up getting cracked up and smooshed in.
