You have to read this email from a high school about a substitute teacher in suburban Minnesota. It takes quite a bit for my jaw to drop and this did it. Source: x.com/hoppykristin...

Here's another look at Pennsylvania's mail ballot applications approved, and the number of mail ballots cast so far -- there have been half a million ballots cast so far.

The number of mail ballot applications approved, and the the number of mail ballots cast, in Pennsylvania since September 1, broken down by party. The number of Democrats who will receive a mail ballot has risen from about 750,000 on September 1 to over 1,000,000 today, whereas the number of Republicans has grown from just under 300,000 to nearly 500,000, and all other voters from about 115,000 to around 200,000. The number cast is rising rapidly. Mail-in ballots have already been cast by nearly 400,000 Democrats, over 100,000 Republicans, and about 50,000 other voters.

Requiring documentation of citizenship to register to vote is unnecessary because there are already multiple safeguards in place. In reality, strict and unworkable rules keep thousands of eligible Americans from voting.

As @alantielrainne.bsky.social points out, a key feature of the Apollo guidance computer was core rope memory, used on all Apollo ascent and command modules. The ropes were woven by women. Ken Shirriff explains the technology below. There are 3 known Apollo module impact sites (12, 14, 17). 🧪

Fun fact: Meta's recently released climate report shows that it consumed 15.3 TWh of energy in 2023 - A 6.2x increase from 2017 (increase in monthly active users was ~1.6x) - More in 2023 than the entire electrical demand of Kenya in the same year, a country with a population of 54m

there is no trolley. they were all killed off by the automobile industrial complex. the tracks are now unruley and wild, the people once tied to them killed in crosswalks by giant trucks and SUVs. but sometimes you come pull the lever to reminisce on simpler times.
