With so many felines clogging shelters and foster homes, there is no good reason to buy purebred…and SO many bad ones, like this.

I've never really wanted a purebred cat. There was a time I considered a longhaired cat, but then I got acquainted with the neighborhood floof, and he's always getting things stuck in there. My last two have been rescued, and they've been very loveable cats.

Years ago on FB, after a neighbor was killed by her adopted pitbull (which was quickly executed by cops), I suggested restricting the breeding and possession of certain breeds that don’t fit modern society. After all, we created them thru selective mutation. I was called a “dog genocider.”

On the subject of Maine Coons...I had a mixed breed random domestic longhair who was a huge boy. Like...25 pounds and not overweight. But he never had any issues with his hips or joints and I'm guessing it's because he was a 'mutt' or something.
The worst thing was finding out the OTHER reason they're in so many viral videos. They don't move much, due to the constant pain.
Speciecism affects all animal species. It's not just the animals we eat, but also our pets, which are treated as decorative objects and toys rather than individuals.
Purebred cats are dumb. My cats came from a vacant lot and a bush next to a Trader Joe's, respectively.
