1) The entire Craft Sequence which is a great example of What if lawyers and finance capitalism were run by gods and necromancers 2) Saint of Bright Doors which is like Disco Elysium set in Sri Lanka and 3) Iron Council, which literally has a communist revolution by fantasy creatures

Thanks for the recommendations! My favorites are "Children of Time" by Adrian Tchaikovsky and "The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet" by Becky Chambers + the following books in those series. Maybe not as explicitly political but very entertaining and smart scifi.
