I've written for decades about how telecom monopolies use broadband usage caps to price gouge captive customers. They serve no technically function, don't fix network congestion, and can be abused anti-competitively by ISPs. It's 2024 and the FCC is finally "taking a look" at the problem:
Will the FCC put a limit on internet data caps?
Remember when considering this partisan hackery that @BrendanCarrFCC has been at the agency for 2617 days of the 5328 days the FCC has been trying to finish its National Broadband Plan. Something about glass houses and throwing rocks. www.wsj.com/opinion/kama...
This is great news for Minnesota on day 5323 of the National Broadband Plan, but we're still talking north of $6500 per connection. Last Mile Gaps are expensive, especially in rural areas: mn.gov/deed/newscen...
I might still be the only person counting or keeping score but I think it is important to do so. (If only to troll Carr)
Nothing provides a better start to my day than waking up to find my PACER bill in my email.
The right of broadcasters to speak freely is rooted in the First Amendment. Threats against broadcast stations for airing content that conflict with the governmentâs views are dangerous and conflict with the fundamental principle of free speech. www.reuters.com/world/us/fcc...
Federal Communications Commission Chair Jessica Rosenworcel on Tuesday denounced threats made by a Florida agency against broadcast TV stations for airing advertisements in support of an abortion rights referendum.
Time for Minow's Vast Wasteland speech in my intro course today.
This is absolute bullshit. It's an attack on @mmfa.bsky.social's free speech rights by supposed "free speech absolutist" Elon Musk. Any normal judge would have tossed the case, but O'Connor (one of the worst judges in America) has basically been giving Elon everything he wanted.
