With some (big) caveats though. These instruments can see intense point sources but have a much harder time with diffuse or small sources (cars, wetlands, etc).

Thanks. That is a good reminder, but getting the large point sources will be important. We can also use aircraft and drones to monitor smaller scale sources, although that comes with its own logistical challenges. We are moving in that direction in my lab.

Following the 80:20 principle, we can focus on the large intense point sources until they’re all closed.
