it's not really the job of a news piece like this to describe these views but this is just straightforward racism www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Britain has lost half a million small businesses since Brexit and the onset of the pandemic, official figures show. The total number of private sector businesses fell by 56,000 to 5.5 million in the year to the start of 2024.

This week in government announcements: he's paid for the tickets, we are doing carbon capture and storage, there will be more spending on capital in the budget, by the way we're fixing Euston, oh, we've ceded sovereignty over the Chagos Islands.

Undocumented immigrants paid $97B in taxes in 2022. They paid a higher state/local tax rate than the top 1% in a majority of states. They contributed $26B to Social Security, which they can't benefit from. Remember this the next time the undocumented are called "freeloaders."

so much ink is spilled about how Democrats need to be a party for the entire country, especially rural white voters, but it's just taken as a given that Trump will quite literally refuse disaster aid to people who didn't vote for him this all on its own should have been grounds for impeachment

The PM really does have quite an ace up his sleeve should he choose to pull it. Leveson 2. Were it my decision, I'd invoke it now. All of it.

Watching people use this stuff to try and shred Starmer's reputation for integrity is grim. Headlining it as if he's swimming in cash is preposterous. And comparing him to Boris Johnson, a moral sewer who wouldn't even reveal who his donors were, is straight up bullshit.

New made-up Starmer scandal even more preposterous than those which came before it. His son stayed in someone's house. That's it. That's the story. It's because we have strict systems, and Starmer sticks to them, that we know about it.
