pro tip because Teams has terrible UX: if you don't want to be embarassed by a ping in the middle of a Zoom presentation THAT'S BEING RECORDED, UGH scroll up to "quit Teams" & click that. clicking "close window" (in the usual spot for quitting a program!) merely sends it into lurk-in-background mode

Evacuating for a hurricane is a lot like traveling out of state for an abortion. It takes money, health, and time. So those that most need to often can’t.
It's really good to see this being recognized and talked about - there's historically been a huge lack of empathy for people who don't evacuate because people assume they're all being stubborn, even though anyone who lives in the US knows how few resources so many people here have.
People with disabilities, people who can't afford it and people who don't want to abandon their pets are among the many who can't easily get up and leave before a hurricane.
