Not sure this is obviously true. Remember money illusion: people think raises are things they deserve, price growth is inflicted upon them But also, have you never been super mad about feeling ripped off by a high price, but then still bought the thing anyway? I think this is all of America rn

I agree with Catherine here. Generally speaking, although probably with some exceptions, people are buying the same things they always did but it's costing them more, and they are annoyed with this state of affairs.

Sure, but the buying anyway is the revealed preference that folks really aren’t as angry as they say they are, or suffering from inflation as much as everyone is suggesting. We’re not just seeing continued purchases of essentials for which demand is highly inelastic. It’s all goods/services.
