I was just making sure since there's been confusion surrounding Ian's timeline (people keep thinking it's this year), sorry. So far though with Milton, while its Cat5 now, it seems like it'll be more like Cat3 when it landfalls. Still insanely destructive but I'm not sure it'll be $50bln+.

That was just one. If there's another that is anywhere near as bad that's an insane amount of damage. This year may end up with $80bln+ in damage in the worst scenario. It doesn't help that our infrastructure, especially in region, has been sorely unmaintained. This is just making everything worse.

it's also worth noting that hurricane season seems to be ending later and starting earlier. seems like an obvious thing to people living in area, but it really isn't to those outside it. There's more time for more hurricanes to brew and that's extraordinarily damaging. Helene is projected $30bln. 1/
