In Pravin Gordhan South Africa has lost a model public servant, to whom we likely owe a major debt of gratitude (that things did not get even worse in the lost decade). www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2024...
Pravin Gordhan died during the early hours of Friday, 13 September. South Africa's servant of the people is no more.
That APSR paper was lousy research... And what I said that if we come up with something, and we are working on things, we're gonna do it and improve it... I told my people, the top people I have a lot of good ones, we read about the bad ones, we had some real bad ones too - but let me just explain -
I'm one of the most respected men. They call me a strong man. I'm a tough person. Smart.
In defense of me being absolutely insane, let me talk about Viktor Orban
I know the polisci prof hot take is "dumb interview" but Harris was generally very good and came across well. Intelligent, relaxed, positive, and in control. Walz probably shouldn't have been there but whatever.
Cautiously excited for my first APSA in a long time. I'll be presenting "Good Description," a new (drafty) paper with @annagbusse.bsky.social. FWIW, expect to see me in a mask and spending as much time as I can outdoors. Please DM or email if you'd like to catch up (unless you're unwell)!
Saw our first cybertruck on the road today in NJ. My child's reaction: "Minecraft car!"
Finally got round to watching Dune (on the plane - I know, bad way to watch it) and it didn't really grab me. I actually think it was... too short? I've never successfully read the book and I couldn't really understand what was happening or why. Was like GOT seasons 6+, too compressed. Am I mad?
