I'm very happy for the WGA, and looking forward to the next one thousand defeats for the side that believes we can somehow have "the economy" without people.
TAG contract negotiations are up next summer.
What's disgusting is understanding that this deal could have happened from the beginning but the corporate guys wanted to destroy the WGA instead. Although the writers didn't get everything they wanted, I take great satisfaction in knowing the Zaslavs are absolutely fucking miserable right now.
This is a nice post to read to find out they struck a deal
I yelled, "YES!" in my head at, "the economy without people," and immediately felt guilty that the part I was yelling, "YES!" at was, "without people"
was hoping they’d get maher canceled but suppose some compromises are necessary
This is how I found out they made a deal.
It's really insane. They all think they can just turn the page, today, and have robots do all the work. Carmakers, studios, publishing houses. No one managed to check into 1) how that would work or 2) if it's even possible. Oh, and if anyone wanted the crap robots would make. Ghoulish AND stupid.
I mean, people are generally pretty terrible to be around so I get the wistfulness but not the logic.
Economies.... that don't need people..... are the hAAAAAAAPI-EST people......
