While I think owning one's favorites media matters, I don't get why vinyl (and even cassettes) has made a comeback, vs belonging at Goodwill. Tech advances for a reason; spending a bunch of money on new vinyl/tapes, nostalgia or not, seems odd. Plus posters are cheaper (re: "I like the art").

I'd rather see a push for lossless audio files (FLAC, Apple Lossless, etc) as more commonplace, but guess streaming (and 320 kbps MP3s as good enough for most) has eclipsed that.

Most of the vinyl records I've purchased were limited editions in unique colors, were purchased directly from the artist, and came with a code for an MP3 download of the album. They just seemed more fun than the other options.
