Looks a pretty great effort to me!
Fantastic thread, as ever, Sue. I don't suppose you ever fancy working on areas outside East Anglia too, like, say - just to pick a name randomly off the top of my head - the parishes surrounding Cirencester, just for example???
We stayed in Dubrovnik, and I can confirm its loveliness, as was the lagoon on Mljet. Justin Bieber’s superyacht was in the harbour when we took the catamaran, and it was funny listening to a wave of ‘it’s got a fucking helicopter’ go down the cabin as it came into view of each row in turn.
Were you on one of those amazing Catamaran ferries they have going up and down the coast? (Looks similar to one we took to Mljet about ten years ago.) They are so cool.
Lots of you will remember Sue's lovely detailed landscape threads from the other place. What a joy she's joined us here 🏺
Yes, I've also come across that, including rooms where an effort has been made to match the upholstery with the carpets and other furnishings. I do love a good inventory.
Anyone here going to the National Archive in Kew any time soon? I really need to look at a file and the long Covid is making it hard currently 🥺 Shouldn’t be hard work, I have the file reference (it’s a 1920s divorce file) and I just need to check it’s actually about the people I think it is.
I do love that frontispiece of Dunster!
Tracking the ownership of an advowson has led me to the most wonderful inventory of a Sherborne inn-keeper, where the rooms were given the names of hart, George, lion, bear, sun, half-moon, maidenhead, and cross keys - for a picture on the door or in the room? #earlymodern 🗃️
