A day strolling around Salisbury, from Old Sarum, to Harnham, to the Cathedral grounds.

Salisbury cathedral spire.
Salisbury cathedral spire from across the watermeadows

Looking out from Old Sarum, across the cathedral foundations to the rolling Wiltshire countryside.

No finer sight in York than Mallard herself. Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. His statue at King's Cross station gets far less attention than a mythical platform 9 and 3/4 sign, which seems to me to be a considerable shame.

Splendid few days in York, including a surprising statue in the gents of a local hostelry.

Back in Cardiff for one of the few times since the PhD, postdoc and fellowship years (1990 - 2005 ± a couple in Southampton). A lot has changed, but some things remain unaltered. The Pen and Wig pub is a time capsule and only the beers appear to have changed in 20+ years. #cardiff
