There's a whole field of study on the phonetic cues to depression. Researchers from psychiatry, neurology, computational linguistics, and phonetics all work in this area; no one in sociolinguistics ever has, as far as I know. So I wrote this. compass.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
