I knew a biologist--still do technically, she's not dead--who went on a field expedition and came home with a NASTY code. No symptoms but absolutely DEVASTATING congestion. She was talking like a plugged-up cartoon character for months. Nothing helped.

From the other day, a Common Carder bee having a good feed on the Echinacia. The Echinacia have been a revelation in the garden. They're young plants but have been attracting lots of pollinators and are very attractive. #WildlifeFromMyWindow#gardenwildlife#bees#bumblebee#invertebrates

Went in the garden to check on the 🐛 after yesterday's ⛈️ (all but the Vapourer have gone, but I think they were ready to pupate anyway). Spotted this froghopper, or spittlebug, hiding under a branch. Small but quite attractive (in my 👀!). #WildlifeFromMyWindow#gardenwildlife#invertebrates#invert

I get excited whenever the carbon intensity of the UK electricity grid is below ~100g of CO2 per kilowatt hour of electricity. The 2023 average was 162g gCO2/kWh But just look at this figure - in 2009 it was regularly ~600. We ARE making big changes. Hooray! Source: tinyurl.com/48dwzz33
