when my kids use a new slang term i say “oh, is that making a comeback? i remember that from the 90s” and that usually puts a stop to it
You also have to get mildly peeved at things you think are actually good. Don't say 'oh how sweet' to anything that's supposed to be edgy.
Haha. I tend to use it & get it slightly wrong on purpose, they love that 😐
Which is really apt because so much of "new" slang are words that have been used in AAVE or in marginalized subcultures for decades that's just now broken into the mainstream.
Init! 😏
A teenager was picking out Ed Hardy jeans from the rack and I went right over and exclaimed with glee they had come back in style. She literally hung her pile back up and walked away like she was going to cry. I know I shouldn't have but I couldn't resist. 😂
I still wore flairs in the 90s You could get old high-end designer clobber in charity shops back thenI still wore flairs in the 90s You could get old high-end designer clobber in charity shops back then
i remember blue peter in 1997 when konnie huq made a papier mâché skibidi toilet
Clothes too, nobody wants to hear "I used to wear those!" from a 50-something
I can't handle that idea that me saying that is like my Mum saying the same about the sixties 👀
Shame it doesn’t work for racists and fascists. Didn’t think I would be reviving my badges from 70s and 80s and supporting widespread action.
