Our collaborative work with Narry Kim on the kinetics of mRNA poly(A) tail shortening. Led by Young-suk Lee, who established his own lab while the work was in progress, and Yevgen Levdansky in my lab. #RNASky#RNABiologywww.nature.com/articles/s41...
Here, using mathematical modeling and an in vitro deadenylation system, the authors quantitatively demonstrate the effect of non-adenosines in the poly(A) tail and exemplify how tail sequence regulate...
Cool! Very excited for you and what you'll do next!
Thank you @eugenevalkov.bsky.social ! One Christmas present sorted!
it's wild that R, the ubiquitous statistical computing language, was co-created by a Māori prof (Ross Ihaka) — and yet the vast majority of scientists who use R don't know this is like inventing the toaster. possibly the largest impact of a single member of an indigenous community on modern science
Can anyone recommend popular science introductions to biology? For people who didn’t get much science in school and struggle to understand the difference between a protein, a virus, and a bacteria? (It’s my dad. He asks me this every time I visit. He asked about a book, now.)
🚨Have you ever wanted to track orthogonal ribosomes in real-time in living cells?🦠🔍We got a new preprint for that! Work led by Eszter Csibra with herculean efforts from Georgie Hau Sørensen and Bjarne Klopprogge. #synbio#ribosomesdoi.org/10.1101/2023...
I am excited to share our newest paper on Cell Reports. Check it out to learn about what happens to ribosome pausing during oxidative stress: www.cell.com/cell-reports...
Does anyone have a reliable tool to compute the relative proportion of nuclear vs cyto RNA in CLIP pull-down a, ideally one that does it for background too? #RNAbiology 🧪💻
This comment gets a follow. Nice to meet you, Chris!
I started using KEGG pathway analysis over GO,a nd sometimes that gives more coherent results. But overall: I wish. Gotta search for patterns and test hypotheses.
