Sunset Shadowlands A striking sunset from Grand Canyon National Park in Monsoon Season. More striking photographs at www.fringe.com#photography#grandcanyon

A sunset over the Grand Canyon.

The view is straight ahead and over the Grand Canyon. The overall scene is full of reds, oranges and yellows.

Heavy clouds occupy the top of the image. Just below the clouds is the sun, which is very, very bright. Sun rays project over the rest of the scene.

The sky is clear below the sun and mostly yellow.

The canyon walls and features are in stark relief in the rest of the photograph. They project up and into the canyon, making for a striking layered effect.

The bottom of the frame is all shadowed.

Mesa Morning---an incredible sunrise in the Upper Blue Hills of Utah. More photographs at www.fringe.com#photography#Utah

Badlands at sunrise.

The sun is rising to the left in this scene, illuminating a badlands wall and butte. Toward the bottom the rock wall flows into ridges and valleys, forming unusual shapes. Toward the top the sky has a purple/pink hue, tending toward blue on the right.

The sun provides a rich, warm golden color to the rocks in the center.

From the Wormsloe Plantation in Savanah, Georgia. You can feel the peacefulness of the lane and the quiet contemplation of the live oak trees. #photography

A tree-lined lane recedes into the distance.

The wide, flat graveled line starts in the front of the photograph, filling it from edge to edge, and leads off into the distance.

Live oak trees line both sides of the lane and grow over the top of it. The trees are lush and green. Spanish moss covers the trees and drapes into the center.

Lupines cover a small hill on a glorious summer day in Yosemite National Park in California. And yes, there were plenty of bees around when I made this photograph! See more photographs and stories at www.fringe.com#photography#yosimite

Purple Lupines cover a hillside. The flowers cover a small hill on left side of the image; the hill slopes down and to the right.

Behind the lupines tall pine trees reach toward the sky. Some of the trees go out of the frame at the top.

Behind the trees are distant hills and above them is a blue sky with big cumulous clouds. It is more cloudy on the left side than on the right.

Woot! It's another long read! Come join David as he ventures to Badlands National Park and rides out a summer storm. The results are... just incredible! www.fringe.com/badlands-wall/#photography#longread#badlands

A view from an overlook.

In the foreground, striped, low hills stretch into the distance. These are predominately brown, and the tops are lighter. Striations are on every hill, making them appear striped.

In the far distance you can see the green and yellow of summer grasses and flowers.

The sky is pink with some white fluffy clouds. Toward the horizon the sky blends into more purple tones.

Lightning in the desert is always striking! This is from Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado and remains one of my favorite lightning scenes. More photographs and stories at www.fringe.com#photography#lightning

Lightning bolts strike the desert.

Twin bolts of lightning from storm clouds strike the desert. The clouds aren't as heavy or thick as you might expect, and are tinged with blues. In the center of the photograph the clouds turn more pink and the bolts come from the pink part. To the sides of the bolts the clouds are pulled down by rain.

The foreground is a mix of green desert bushes and dried grasses. The scene stretches off into the distance.

The Milky Way soars over White Pocket. I've spent quite a lot of time at White Pocket, but this photograph is easily my favorite from there. It is truly a place like no other! Read the story at www.fringe.com/photograph/a...#Photography

The Milky Way over the rocks of White Pocket.

In the foreground are twisted formations of rocks, with lines, grooves and protrusions everywhere. The rocks are white with red accents. In general, the rocks lead from the front to the back.

The Milky Way takes up the sky, gently arcing in from the upper left to the middle.

The photograph has deep purple hues.

Second Beach in Olympic National Park, Washington. A perfect moment for a Sunday morning, I think! #photographywww.fringe.com

A sun-flare on a beach.

In the foreground, ocean waters come up gently on a sandy beach. The waves are tiny, just a couple of inches high, and the sand is wet from the tide coming in.

In the middle ground are some tall sea stacks. There are trees growing on top of them. There is a small arch in the sea stack to the right, and you can see through it.

The sun is just above the sea sick to the right and it has sun rays.

The sky is cloudy with heavy clouds. You can see a few scraps of blue, but it also looks like it might rain.
