Ah, Ohio Republicans signaling plans to do the same okey-doke DeSantis pulled in 2018: "voters amended the constitution, but now it's up to legislators to write an enabling act, which …" (*proffers language to gut the whole amendment*)
Oh well, vote harder next time I guess.
Michigan Republicans tried this with the same arguments before our abortion proposal even hit the ballot. State Supreme Court shot their arguments down and allowed the proposal to be voted on.
Given what happened with the redistricting ballot measure, it seems pretty likely
I guess there's the answer to the pundits's articles asking how Dems expect to GOtV in Ohio in 2024 now that abortion is not on the ballot. The OH Republicans doing Democrats campaigning for them.
Y’all didn’t think this was an actual democracy, did you? Can’t have that.
Yeah, we’re at the point where summary executions of Republican legislators are needed.
Just the worst people. Every single one of them.
This is the Utah way.
I feel like this wouldn’t hold up in court. The amendment is clear as day. Now they could propose another amendment that changes it, and put the vote on the day of the 2024 primary when Republicans are more likely to vote and Dems stay home due to their presidential nominee already being decided.
