Donā€™t even think about complex topics in the context of ā€œdumbing it down.ā€ That framing sets you up to talk down to readers. Instead, think of it as finding ā€œshared language.ā€ e.g., how would you tell a friend you respect about it, if they were unfamiliar with the subject?

ā€œWe donā€™t want to wake up on November 3, and people say, ā€˜Buffalo just elected the first socialist mayor in the past 50 years.ā€™ We canā€™t make that happen in Buffalo!ā€ www.welcometohellworld.com/this-is-the-...

Earlier this summer India Walton won the mayoral primary by defeating four term incumbent and replacement level capital-backed Democrat pud Byron Brown. Typically one Democrat defeating another in a city election would not be cause for too much alarm among a stateā€™s party leadership but Walton as you likely know is a former union organizer and community activist and nurse and more to the point a Democratic Socialist and so now everyone is acting real fucking weird about the whole thing. First Brown refused to even debate her during the election. So scared were some of the city and state leadership at the prospect of a Walton win that in July the Buffalo Common Council started batting around the idea of eliminating the position o

That students aren't reading entire books is very strange to me. We read children's editions of The Odyssey aloud in class as third graders. Not reading books in high school or college is just unfathomable. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...

indeed, Black disabled people are treated so badly in hospitals yesterday i said how the hospital refused to admit me until my condition worsened & 3 (yt) people commented how "that cannot be". please open your eyes & realize that Black people are not treated the same in healthcare RIP Tinu ā¤ļø

wanna scream so badly. I'm mad about @Tinu's passing. She shouldn't have had to spend her dying days raising money for cancer treatment.
She shouldn't have had to ask doctors and nurses to wear masks at the hospital. This world doesn't give a damn about disabled Black women!

Hell, I'll go one better: Trump already had a chance to respond to a hurricane *that hit North Carolina* You'll be shocked to learn how it turned out! Link: www.wbtv.com/story/353984...

Gonna float this idea: state interest in health of fetus + women are people with autonomy that can't be pressed into force labor => abortion restrictions are unjustified + universal pre-natal care is compelling
