Maybe Dr. Ronny was right....he's 200 years old. Oh wait, I think I may have misquoted him. I better check....I'll be back.

So, of course, there are typos and such in my #TenThings . Hopefully, they bother me, more than you! We're all human, unless you're a bot. If you appear to be, you'll just be blocked. 😈

10. The last one. If you're made it here, please give me a follow! Osprey are the only birds of prey that actually dive into the water after their food. Other hawks/ eagles skim the surface when fishing. Osprey will completely submerge to chase prey. Excellent photos of an Osprey diving as a bonus.

9. Birds of prey have 4 toes or digits, usually 3 forward toes and 1 rear. But owls and osprey (sometimes called fish hawks) have an opposable digit, which allows them to better carry their quarry to safety for eating. One of their toes rotates to allow 2 toes forward and 2 rear.

8. Even though DDT was banned in the 1970s, some species were likely not to make a comeback. Peregrine falcons had less than 100 nests nationwide. Falconers established the Peregrine Fund in 1970, and they estimate they have released around 4,000 birds to help the species recover successfully.

7. In the 1940s and 50s, an insecticide called DDT began to be used in US agriculture. By the 1960s, bald eagles and peregrine falcons were nearly extinct in the US from a thinning of egg shells, which caused them to break before hatching. Countless other avian species were also decmated.

6. Birds of prey have always fascinated humans, as such archeological evidence suggests that humans may have developed a relationship with birds of prey, especially falcons, over 4000 years ago through the sport of falconry. UNESCO has named it a cultural heritage of humanity.

5. Halfway there! If you're still here, please give this post a like. Many species of birds of prey are migratory. They have several routes across the U.S. the major routes take them from the north regions of CAN all of the way to ARG. That's nearly 7,000 mile (11,000+km)
