Ah, I read that on my first flight to Boston for a visit and, yeah, that also was a Major Brain Rearranger.
Yeah, and I'm not even counting my dive into Joyce because that was the subject of my senior thesis and I feel like that's an entirely different kind of reading experience. Like of course that's going to take over your life.
Reading "Infinite Jest" at New College was my number two reading experience after "The Stand." I think reading "2666" up here in Boston is No. 3.
God, I just want to see the story done properly. And maybe we can figure out an ending without the LITERAL Hand of God.
I honestly think the only way to do "The Stand" properly now would be as an alternate history period piece. It's so of its particular time.
Same! The last mini-series was maybe the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. That "Captain Trips" section is the most cinematic thing possible and everybody keeps screwing it up!
That book just has a way of infecting one's mind.
It never really transcends the boundaries of "moderately amusing," but it's fine for a lazy afternoon.
