So sorry to hear that Risu. The UK needs to build up, out, increase density and use our existing housing stock more efficiently.
I like to remind people that when I fled DV in 2018, only one letting agent would even let me view a house as I didn’t earn the required 3x rent. My first rental I only got because the private landlord saw I was connected to his friends on LinkedIn, but still took a 6k deposit.
Children’s lives in the UK are changing. They are becoming shorter in height. More of them are going hungry than they were a few years ago. Recently, more have died each year than they did a few years ago. Increased poverty, more destitution & the effects of ongoing austerity are the clear culprits.
Obviously, this is a choice. And I can only think of my Conservative MP's constituency newsletter of y'day, which bemoaned the fate of second home owners, with absolutely no reference at all to those who cannot afford to buy *one* home or, god forbid, even rent somewhere for themselves 😒
It's disingenuous of @UniversitiesUK to use call for higher maintenance loans & mental health services as a mask for sector's vested interest calling for higher fees of £12-13k per student per year @educationgov @JacquiSmithMP 🔥 40 yr loan term 🔥 9% repayment rate 🔥 £25,000 threshold
Excellent thread on why Local Housing Allowance needs to increase …
