after I pitched the full book to this agent he was like, "What happens to the white guy" and I said, "Nothing." and he was like, "???" so I added, "This book's not teaching someone you're worth being loved. It's not about him learning some kind of lesson. He's not the point of the book."
Books are not inherently sacred objects. Shelf space is finite. A best seller from 1991 (33 years old) does not need to continue to live on the shelf and take space away from newer more relevant books. Recyling and donation are not always options.
Every few months someone will discover that school libraries regularly throw away books, and will post about how "heartbreaking" it is. It isn't "heartbreaking". it's collection management. Mass market books have a finite life. Sorry you had to find out this way. www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news...
