I hope you've read Jacqueline Reiter's post on my blog this week. 'Quicksilver Captain', her biography of Sir Home Popham. Jacqueline also writes excellent fiction. A short story of hers is included in 'Tales of Empire', - FREE next week from 1st to 5th October. mybook.to/TalesofEmpire

The photo was taken at the mausoleum of Frederick Huth, a banker, in Kensal Green Cemetery. I'm a tour guide there and used to mention it. Not so much now.

I quite understand that. For me, because his work expresses a moral attitude, that is now tainted, so I don't think I can enjoy it any more. That might not be such an issue for morally neutral art.

I think the particular problem here is that his art is so at odds with what's emerging. Other artists in the same position haven't shown such distinctive moral positions. Actually, that makes it far worse, it's a betrayal and that generates complex reactions. I've cancelled a purchase.

The GBeebies account is now blocked by over 6000 people. With a little bit of effort, they could end up in the top 20 list of blocked accounts! Only need about 8000 blockers to get there! Now there's an effort with making.
