A what if? for Brit politics fans. What if Johnson hadn't held parties, there had been no Truss mini-budget, and there hadn't been the spike in inflation. Would the Conservatives have won the election?

It's interesting that sociology, not economics, history or law, seems to be the discipline undergirding of the right. From Kemi Badenoch's intro to her new pamphlet

Badenoch: "In nearly every country, a new progressive ideology is on the rise. This ideology is based on the twin pillars of constant intervention on behalf of protecting marginalized, vulnerable groups, including protecting us from ourselves – and the idea that bureaucrats make better decisions than individuals, or even democratic nation states.

This ideology is behind the rise of identity politics, the attacks on the democracy, sovereign nation state, and ever-more government via spending and regulation. It is driving the economic slowdown seen across the West and social polarization in country after country. A new left, not based primarily on nationalization and private sector trade unions, but ever increasing social and economic control.

A new class of people, a new and growing bureaucratic class, is driving these changes. More and more jobs are related not to providing goods and services in the marketplace, but are instead focused around administering government rules ..."

The first chart shows voting patterns by formal education level. Shows, as always, a strong negative correlation with votes for the far-right. 2nd chart: Age cross-referenced with gender does also reveal a clear pattern. Middle-aged men had the highest FPÖ vote share.
