🚨BP today dumped its plans to cut oil and gas output, "vowing instead to focus on returns and investing in the most profitable businesses, first and foremost in oil and gas." BP is the lead beneficiary of a £22bn UK govt plan to invest in carbon capture and storage in Teesside.
The London-listed company is now targeting several new investments in the Middle East and the Gulf of Mexico to boost its oil and gas output.
This isn’t news. It’s Tory propaganda. Barely bats an eye when Zahawi heats his stables, Johnson freeloads his arse off or McVey takes £18K freebies in 2months. Rayner pays for something expensive herself and The Times wants to shame her. What a nasty, snobby, shit-stirring rag.
98% of the adult cares homes closed to protect people from harm were run by for profit companies. And 90% of children's homes. Time to end this absurdity. Core public services should not be cash cows for private equity. www.theguardian.com/society/2024...
Study finds more than 90% of facilities for children and 98% of those for adults that were closed down were run for profit
I Stand With Lebanon. Nobody else seems to want to. A deeply flawed country but one that's never invaded any of its neighbours, and was founded on an attempt to move on from sectarian communal violence. Naturally, no-one seems to think *it* has a right to exist or defend it's borders.
This would suggest that obscene profits - 1.61bn in half a year during a cost of living crisis - are dependent on exploitation of workers. But meh, who cares, when 'growth' is mentioned. Reeves will be listening. www.theguardian.com/business/202...
Bill is likely to include measures such as ending ‘exploitative’ zero-hours contracts and changes to sick pay
Anyone who believes Starmer has given away an island just a few weeks after becoming PM needs to give their head a wobble. This negotiation has taken several years.
I finally invested in Pixinsight and wow, it’s pretty incredible. Amazing to think this was taken with a $500 smart telescope that some people want to call nothing but a toy. I think it’s super fun to push it to the limits of what it is capable of doing! #astrophotography#seestar
On the Jeremy Vine Show today, I challenged Professor Myles Allen to a £100 bet: By 4th Oct 2034, the UK's carbon capture and storage programme will either have been scaled back, abandoned or need refinancing by the state. He was a bit evasive, but I hope to get his agreement.
How carbon capture and storage actually works Fossil fuel companies Capture politicians, and Capture government subsidies They then Store the money in their bank accounts and tell us the money is being used to reduce CO2 emissions As explained in this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSZg...
