Dude’s finding himself out of his depth for the first time in his life because fatherhood is famously not a job you can outsource to others while simultaneously taking all of the credit.
Specifically thinking about this one because I watched “Silent Night” the other day and the bar was already so low you wouldn’t think someone could get under it and—nope! The Black Christmas remake at least takes a swing at something. Even if that something is kind of bad.
Like if you have not seen 2006’s “Black X-Mas” (starring Michele Trachtenberg and Lacey Chabert??) you should!
Which I guess is just “walk away from Omelas but Omelas is wiped out by elder gods and you’re wiped out by elder gods and so is everyone everywhere.”
It’s reactionary in the same way that a lot of horror is reactionary but it has more interesting narrative preoccupations than “sex bad.”
Maaan I had a friend in middle school that did this and it always weirded me out. I’d rather just lose my place.
It's bleakly funny when self identified trad women complain retvrn type men don't want to date and marry them. Honey, you're 32 and know Latin, they want a nubile 16 year-old who can't read.
Alvarez says otherwise but Scott had such a strong hand on this. It’s somehow a sequel to two different branches of the Alien mythos, Alien a reboot and remix/make all in one. Troubling.
Yes! Thank you. For some reason I had conflated it with one of Cushing Hammer movies.
