there's no such thing as not being "trans enough" because the only person who can decide if you're trans is you, but also sometimes i get the impression from bluesky discourse that people are treating this like political lesbianism. being trans isn't a moral value judgement or feminist power move.

transness has materially shaped my life and is inseparably entwined with my being. my existence is politicized within context by nature of a cisheteronormative society, but that does not mean that transness is inherently political. gender is value natural and more of you should be normal about it.

Bluntly I think there is a large contingent of people who do view transness as a political ideology and whose identities reflect a rejection of aspects of their assigned gender or a lack of strong attachment to it rather than a desperate and overwhelming need to escape a body that is killing you.

i also don't get why so much weight is being put on this idea that people online are deciding who is trans and who isn't based not on statements like "this is who i think is trans and who isn't" but rather on like oblique implications from other statements?
