I believe this applies specifically to the IOS Patreon app*, so you should still be able to pledge on your iPhone via the browser without paying an extra 30% to Apple. Do not use the Apple Patreon app! This is all so tiring.

And it doesn't affect current subscribers, at least (so people should NOT unsub/resub because that just leads to payment delays for creators).
The iOS app also won't be able to pledge to any "per item" patreons after that change too, which is another hidden gotcha as some webcomics I know don't have a monthly sub configured only a per-item so they'll get force-unsubscribed from those patreons then to boot. >_<
In light of this development, I want to say that I do already have a Ko-Fi! I just don't use it, but I recommend following me there in case I jump ship from Patreon this year. That's likely where I'll end up for all subscription stuff. ko-fi.com/kamakru

And if I'm forced into subscription billing I can't just post the monthly digital wallpaper downloads because some people would have access to more than their pledge. So I'd have to check and send them all individually I guess? Or just stop doing it...
I'm not sure if Patreon is in a good enough financial position to file a legal suit over this, which should happen. Or at the very least, creatives should make their complaints go viral to get Apple's attention explaining why this is such a bad move and how it will hurt creators incomes.
