oh look, T-Mobile says the FCC can't require that all wireless phones be unlocked because the recent Supreme Court Chevron ruling killed regulatory independence who could have predicted this sort of thing happening constantly, across every single consumer protection effort
The FCC proposed a phone unlocking mandate in July.
Smells like Freedom! USA USA USA! 😍🇺🇸 ... Sarcasm aside this is clearly what the Monopolistic Companies want , anybody arguing these telecoms are not in Kahoots working together to artificially raise prices therefore creating a defacto monopoly are incredibly naive and I have seen such arguements.
the FCC now can't do ANYTHING (even requiring that wireless carriers unlock all phones within 60 days) without an entirely new, extremely clear law by a Congress long ago lobbied into corrupt gridlock do we see how this is going to work across every last consumer protection effort yet?
I have T-Mobile at a great price so I’m not leaving anytime soon but this is why I only buy via manufacturer. Plus T-Mo is lying since Verizon has done just fine.
Every facet of regulation is under attack.
So it begins
i look forward to finding chalk in my bread!
T-Mobile was already the worst about unlocking phones (along with Sprint who T-Mobile bought), and now they’re going to be even worse. Verizon and AT&T also have their own reasons they are shit. Turns out having only three companies providing essential services and infrastructure is bad!
The President should appoint ten new supreme court justices without bothering to get congressional approval and then have the new justices rule that there's no constitutional requirement for the President to get congressional approval for new justices.
As intended. The Supreme Court majority gets final say over everything.
T-Mobile gave me all kinds of trouble unlocking the phone that I paid for in full. Will never use them again.
