In hard rains, we put sandbags at the top of our driveway. August's hurricane waters were only 4" deep but moved fast enough to sweep away the bags, then flood the basement. Got knocked off my feet when I went out to check the sump lines. DO NOT PUT YOUR BODY IN FLOOD WATER.
Water wins
Water is a very strong term. Fast moving petrochemical poop slurry is more like it.
I might add it only takes 6 inches of fast moving water to sweep an adult off their feet and 12 inches to sweep away a vehicle. Most storm related drownings occur in vehicles. Turn around don't drown! And above all hide from the wind, RUN from the water!
As a follower of the SCP Foundation wiki, my immediate thought is, "You do not recognize the bodies in the water."
And there's the issue of fire ants and them forming mats in floods. That's a personal nightmare of mine.
And if that’s not bad enough, even if it doesn’t sweep you away, floodwater is the worst possible mix of toxic chemicals, viruses, bacteria, just generalized filth anyone can imagine, it’s so dangerous.
There’s a quote I think in a Sebastian Junger book, along the lines of, “The ocean is so powerful it could kill you not even know it.” Same with a hurricane.
