Asheville is in fact an abject lesson in respecting the FEMA map and adhering to the development restrictions of ASCE24 for floodwaters. Had the maps for 135years. We know where hundred year floods are going to happen. Best time to stop building in the floodplane was 1889. Next best time is NOW.

Ironically, last time I went to Asheville, it was for a Third Act (Climate action org) event. I was planning to try to move to the area this fall 😥
they can only learn if they think it's caused by climate change, if they think it's space lasers or something then they just confirm their conspiracies and carry on. Fort McMurray, the oil capitol of Canada, burned to the ground in 2016, they still think it was bad luck.
