AI transcription is fine if you want to get the gist of something, let's say a celebrity interview. I could never imagine using it for MEDICAL purposes (nor legal, nor anything that could adversely impact a life).
Yeah I’ve seen it used for stuff like live meeting transcription, and it’s occasionally useful if all you need is the gist but it’s so obviously full of inaccuracies. It would take me less time to do a fresh transcription than to edit an AI transcription to the same accuracy!
It is becoming increasingly common even in NZ, including GPs using it to record consultations and then generate documents from that. Privacy considerations aside, it is super fucking dangerous
The thing with medical transcription is there's always a review of the transition by the clinician who dictated it because they're responsible. So I can see how someone would think that it would be a place it fit. But clinicians are expensive and busy, so lots of errors are bad.
