What I DIDN'T expect was one of the raccoons finding a way into the solarium and getting really curious to fiddle with everything he found in there.
We have foxes, deer, and raccoons, in addition the the normal squirrels and stuff. And from time to time even a neighbor's cat wanders through. I love seeing a glimpse of red fluffytail fox dashing through the trees, or a deer stridently ignoring me while munching on Leaf.
I got so into the habit of not posting anything, because of the enormous tire fire that bird app became, that I'm still kinda trying to get back to it. So I guess one place to start is try to post a thing I think is cool or something I'm grateful for every day. Today: wild animals in the yard.

Folks really need to start tamping down/working on their own trauma responses and considering the impact of reacting without thinking and how that hurts the whole community. Slow down, take a breath, don’t treat everything as an attack. Hypervigilance is only useful until it’s not.

I too believe the death penalty can be morally justifiable in the abstract, but imposing it in America is giving it to a committee made up of Stephen Miller, Elon Musk, and David Duke. Nailguns are morally justifiable in the abstract but you wouldn’t buy a bunch of them for a preschool classroom.
A "fun" lesson in how power works these days is that the GOP is on its way to a statewide loss in NC and a historic wipeout in the governor's race there but will likely *pick up* four NC congressional seats and retain a hammerlock on the state legislature anyway because they rigged the maps
