Let this be my semi-regular reminder to everyone that scented laundry products stick to EVERYTHING. If you choose to use them everything your clothes touch will be scented, and then that scent will transfer to whoever touches that object ad infinitum.

yeeeeeeep. when i was pregnant someone gave us a flannel rag baby quilt as a gift, and they had washed it in scented stuff first. we didn’t use it and i washed it periodically over like two years but the scent never left so i donated it

My project bag that I brought to my brother's house this summer reeked of their intense detergent (Gain). It took months. Even the stuff I didn't take out of the bag smelled like it.

And because I was just outside chatting with my husband about this on our deck, let me also mention that scented dryer sheets also pollute the air via the dryer vent. I had to come inside because one of our neighbours started their dryer. 😣

A year or so ago I convinced my family to switch to the wool dryer balls. If someone needs a scent, you can toss a drop or two of essential oil on there, but it's better for the clothes overall and I like them so much more.

We've been using unscented Ivory bars to make our own laundry soap for years, and wow, can I smell when someone uses scented stuff now!

We had to be the killjoys in our condo because people started using those “scent booster” products which, it turns out, are absolutely not compatible with commercial shared washing machines. After some messed-up loads management put up signs banning them.
