"For the first time ever, manufacturers would be required to study the impact of test dummies hit outside of vehicles." first time ever?????
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stunned safety advocates by proposing new vehicle design rules that it says will help reduce pedestrian deaths. The rules will likely change veh...
They also didn’t test the dummies in women’s sizes until the late 90s I think. It’s why women get killed by airbags.
And they will be tested on the average size adult male. Women & children don’t matter apparently.
WHAT????
Not that surprising given most traffic design gives fuck all to anything but a car.
Yup, before it only had to test impact on the drivers/passengers inside the vehicle. Fucking nuts.
First time ever in the US. A lot of European countries already have regulations about this.
that's mind blowing. like it only just occurred to them that the tanks they're selling *might* pose a threat to pedestrians
Are they only required to study the impact, or will they also be required to do something about it?
ten percent of vehicle cost is used to lobby politicians to keep standards low.
I was at my kids’ high school (Canada) and there was a student driving some lifted one ton diesel, like…a teenager should absolutely not have that vehicle. Why is a 17yo allowed to drive that? Freaks me out. Should be heavily restricted.
