I suppose that is some incentive, and I certainly don't have money to burn, but you have to ask yourself how much is my time worth? 11 hrs in a budget sleeper car sounds like a nightmare 😂
This route has been such a non-starter since Day 1. 11hrs from Hong Kong to Shanghai? Who in their right mind is going to take that option, rather than the 2hr flight that leaves multiple times/day and costs almost exactly the same? Gutted, coz I take this route regularly & love to travel by train.

It was well worth the drive, and the old dears running the restaurant were delightful. They must be consistently bemused by the hardcore horror fans perpetually darkening their doorway. Hope you tried the Leatherface lemonade! I took a few more without me in, which may be of interest.
