Since I commented on the premiere, I suppose I'll keep it up. I thought this Nate Bargatze gig was a step up for the show, if not as much of a home run as his last gig—a pretty damn high bar to clear. It feels more indicative of the season we'll have than I expected. #SNL (1/3)

They're trying to cobble new voices against old ones, and there's a bit of friction, but Nate being there to regulate the energy helps smooth over the rougher edges. It does make me wonder how the show will fare with a host who does less to set the tone in a specific way (2/3)

As not-super-positive on the episode as I was, Bargatze himself never faltered - I didn't think the show worked as well for him, but he was better and seemed a bit more assured (which befits someone on their second go-round, but is good to see just the same).
