Saw a candy store in Carson City, NV selling Rhodesian paratrooper pinsโ€ฆand SS pins. Just, out in the window display.

Increasingly suspect the reason there exists The Bad Dynamic where NYC and LA leftists are unable to understand national R to D vote math and coalition politics is that in their local political markets there are advantages to D base mobilization and intra coalition spoiler tactics.

i'm really sorry that this is the first election for so many people and that so many people don't realize women, and especially, women of color have to go out of their way to assure white voters that they will be normal and competent politicians, but you do actually have to grow up at some point

People say this doesn't work but like...idk my experience is in Montana where it worked extremely well. Schweitzer took on a moderate Republican *as his lieutenant governor* and the result was Republicans in Disarray for 16 years

there are still some talented people who for one reason or another are Republicans. their party is rapidly moving away from them. as a sage of my youth once said โ€œI pull up quick to retrieve itโ€

Also note that elected officials that join the cabinet would have to be replaced in an election. Thatโ€™s a chance to pick up an office in a swing state or district.

In addition to the olive branch to normie voters putting numbers of the other party in the cabinet can be strategic: either protecting a reasonable politician from some at home backlash candidate or forcing an election where the other party has a weakness Read a book hobos

Like, I donโ€™t have to like or trust the Lincoln Project, and the only thing I agree with Liz Cheney on is that Trump is a threat to democracy. But they are useful in the moment, and this is too important and too close to reject that out of hand.

Is it, though? One of the key strategies of the campaign is to give whatโ€™s left of the non-MAGA voter base permission to vote for her. A standard platitude like this is part of that.
