this dude wants to be dictator so badly

MENLO PARK, Calif. — Mark Zuckerberg strode onstage at Meta’s annual developer conference last week with all the swagger of a Roman emperor — that is if Julius Caesar had a thing for customized statement tees.
The billionaire CEO’s designer shirt was emblazoned with the slogan, “AUT ZUCK AUT NIHIL,” a riff on a Latin phrase meaning “a Caesar or nothing”— a nod to the conquering general’s unbridled ambition.

it's so funny watching the media launder Zuckerberg's reputation again, all he has to do is give a few goofy softball interviews to The Verge and Bloomberg and dress like Kevin Federline while saying "AI is the next revolution" and the media is like "wow. a whole new zuck. incredible..."

These articles inevitably fail to discuss what it means when a company, whose responsibilities are to its shareholders, is the entity in charge of maintaining the bot that people have developed deep emotional connection to.

Some take a data-driven approach to organizational leadership; others lead by vibes. 🎁 link: www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

But as Amazon’s announcement shows, the decisions around work arrangements were never going to be just about the data. When Jassy spoke last year about the company’s decision to move from a remote policy to a hybrid one, he said that it was based on a “judgment” by the leadership team but wasn’t informed by specific findings. Executives might just have an intuition that in-office work is better for the companies they helped build. It may make their jobs easier to have everyone close by. They also seem to find it hard to believe that their employees are doing as much work when they’re at home as when they’re in the office, where everyone can see them.
